GIRLS:

What to wear…
First of all, there are never any set rules of the right or wrong things to wear for your senior session. But these are some good ideas… bring a variety of colors and styles. BRING HEELS!!! favorite shoes, jewelry- necklaces, rings, accessories, earrings, headbands and other hair accessories, bring anything you LOVE to wear.

-something classy when you look at your portraits 20 years from now. Cover shoulders and arms for one outfit.
-something you – what you wear everyday. Long Sleeves or Short Sleeves
-something different, stylish, and fun – dresses, tunics with funky boots, belts, purses, sunglasses
-something about your identity – sports, music, arts etc

hair …. well I would recommend using my hairstylist…but otherwise…we suggest no new styles. Use a de-frizz product to tame stray hairs and fly-a ways, but not something that would weigh it down, volume tends to photograph better than flat hair so use sparingly. Quick easy hairstyle changes are ok, but it should be quick or you’ll lose camera time.

makeup…. My makeup artists are experienced in doing makeup specifically for photography which really makes a difference.

nails….your hands will be in your portraits. Have your nails done.

tops….feel free to add sweaters, jackets, and vests. I suggest covering arms in one or more outfits. If you’re wearing a tank top bring a
strapless bra. Spaghetti straps and sleeveless tops will draw attention to the arms and make it difficult to hide bra straps. There are additional charges to remove bra straps.

shoes….bring them! If you know anything about me, I LOVE SHOES!!!

outfits…how many? always bring extras so we can help you make your final decisions, but it depends on the session,

GUYS:

What to wear…
-something classy when you look at your portraits 20 years from now – Button up shirts, Shirts, sweaters, polos, jackets. Only bring a suit if it’s something you wear and you own one that fits well and you feel comfortable wearing it.
-something casual what you like to wear everyday, your own unique style – tees, jeans, torn jeans, shorts, hats, bring different colors
-something different fun – whatever you want
-something about your identity – sports, music, arts etc.
-things – car, a microphone, guitar

hair… avoid cutting your hair right before the session. Give new styles at least two weeks

nails.…your hands will be in your portraits. Make sure they look nice.

tops….feel free to add sweaters or jackets. We suggest covering arms in one or more outfits.

brows and facial hair….please remove any unwanted brow and facial hair

outfits…how many? always bring extras so we can help you make your final decisions, but it depends on the session

EXTRA TIPS:

tanning….avoid being overly tanned for your skin type. Also avoid sunburns, uneven spray tans and tan lines. There are additional charges to remove sunburn and tan lines.

bumps and blemishes….will all be removed, so don’t worry!

pets….you must bring someone along to watch and care for your pet while you’re being photographed. Keep in mind that involving your pet takes extra time and may mean less images and/or clothing changes.

friends, siblings….we’d be happy to take a couple images with you and a friend, sibling, boyfriend/girlfriend. As with pets, this involves extra time and may mean less clothing changes and images of you. THIS IS NOT A FAMILY PORTRAIT.

glasses…..to eliminate distracting glare and reflections, call your optician to either borrow a pair of empty frames or have the lenses removed from your own frames. Non glare lenses work well in some cases. If you choose to wear glasses with lenses in keep in mind that removing glass glare from your photographs will be done at your expense. Non glare lenses work well in some cases.

If you have any questions at all, don’t hesitate to email me at dan@contempostudio.com. I look forward to seeing you!

Senior Portraits will generally be taken in the summer months after the junior year right before senior year starts. These portraits will be in the yearbook with the other senior portraits. They’ll be given to relatives and friends as mementos. And parents will keep a nice one as a remembrance of their child’s graduation year.

Decide the precise type of portrait you need prior to chooosing the photographer you’ll use. Your school will give you a set of guidelines that must be adhered to, as not all of the schools will take just any photo. Some require specific sizes, while others need a certain background, or that it be an indoor shot, or have no hands or props showing.

Each individual child has a different take on Senior Pictures. It’s important to discuss your child’s feelings about this. For some, it will be an important issue and others could care less about it. You’ll need to know what size photos to order. How many wallets will your son or daughter need for trading? Is it important to your child to have their photo included on a portfolio or graduation announcement? You’ll want to outline the amount you are willing to spend with your child. Call the portrait studio and see if it’s possible to meet and review options.

Contempo Studio offers unique and artistic senior portrait photography. You are welcome to bring along examples of photos to share with us and we can produce similar poses and designs. Just like wedding photography, these priceless photo will last your child’s lifetime and it is highly recommended for anyone to take.
